This antique Egyptian bronze & carved stone Ibis statue of the God Thoth was made in Egypt during the Grand Tour/Egyptian revival periods (c. 1780s-1920s) and is in excellent condition. The head, neck and legs are made of cast bronze with a exquisite verdigris patina, the eyes are red resin, and the body is hand-carved & polished stone.The ibis is a long-legged wading bird that lives along the shores of the Nile, was associated with the Ancient Egyptian God Thoth: the god of writing, magic, wisdom, and the moon.
